Beach Day Must-Haves!

Hey guys! Over where I live, summer has just begun, which means that beach season has, too! So I thought that today I would make a list of all the must-haves I bring to the beach! Feel free to add your own necessities in the comments!

The first thing that almost everyone needs is a good sunscreen. While I do spend most of my summer lounging by the waves, I always find a way to get burned. So I use the Coppertone Sport spray-on sunscreen in SPF 50. It's easy to swipe on, and dries fairly fast so you have more time to get your perfect tan and swim in the water.

It also helps if you have some sort of hat to cover your face. Between lying on my back and stomach, my face is always the worst burned area. While big, floppy straw hats work well, I use a Southern Tide baseball cap, which is easier to carry around.

For those who don't like to fall asleep on the beach (you'd be surprised how many do), you'll need something to keep occupied while you tan. A book is the perfect way to pass the time. I usually bring a YA novel, like John Green's The Fault In Our Stars, or my personal favorite, Zoe Sugg's Girl Online. You can also substitute that for a magazine, as well.

Something I learned is very useful are sunglasses croakies. Croakies help to keep your shades over your eyes, especially when you go into the water. I use the Lilly Pulitzer croakies, as they are in such fun patterns!

It's also important to bring plenty of snacks and water! You don't want to get dehydrated in the sun, or go hungry the whole time. I usually pack my polar insulated bottle, Fiber One brownies, and a huge bag of pineapple.

The last thing I bring to the beach is a cute beach cover-up. You never know where you'll end up wandering off to at the beach. I usually bring a pair of Nike running shorts and a bigger t-shirt, but if you want to look a bit nicer, you could always throw in an oversized cardigan or a casual shift or maxi dress.

That's all my beach must-haves! Remember to leave your's in the comments below, and I hoped you enjoyed reading!

Conquering San Francisco

Hey guys! So today I thought I would make a post about an amazing place I've visited. As I was stuck for ideas late last night, I saw a photo from a place I've been and instantly thought of how cool it would be to share about it. So I'll be talking about my wonderful trip to San Francisco.

I don't really know what it was about San Francisco that amazed me. Although, coming from a particularly small town probably has something to do with it. Everywhere I looked, I saw someone, or someplace, that looked intriguing. While we were only there for a couple days, we managed to get in a lot of sight-seeing.

I'll start with one of the most obvious places first: the Golden Gate Bridge. At first, I couldn't understand why some people wanted to see a big red bridge. Then I saw it, and all I could think of was how much taller it was than me. This bridge is absolutely massive. It looked so intimidating, but so grand at the same time. It was probably one of my favorite places on the tour we went on.

Something I really enjoyed about the city itself was the atmosphere. The whole time we were there, it felt very lively. Everyone seemed so interesting. There were musicians lined up on every street, and every couple steps you walked, the music changed completely. I also loved the street art. I've always thought street art to be cool, as it felt so out of place and unique to me. As it was all over the city, I never missed a chance to take a picture of a mural.

While we only saw it for about five seconds, we got to pass by the house in Full House. I don't know why I felt the need to mention that, but I use to wake up at an ungodly hour just to watch the show. So seeing it brought back a wave of nostalgia.

We got to enjoy a walk from Pier 1 all the way down to infamous Pier 39. I'll have to admit that I was most excited about seeing the seals outside some of the docks. They were so funny to me!

I got the chance to visit the Grace Cathedral, which I was thrilled about. I've always loved looking at stained glass windows, so I was constantly breaking my neck to gawk at the amazing windows. That aside, the church itself was very beautiful. You can tell so much thought went into the build.

All in all, San Francisco was a culturally-shocking place to visit. It was like I was in a different world from my own, and I'd love to visit it again one day. I hope you enjoyed reading about my travels as much as I enjoy writing about them. I would've included pictures, but the device that has them all isn't cooperating with my computer.

Feel free to post about any cool places you've visited, I'd love to hear about them!

My Top Five Apps

Hey guys!

Assuming a lot of you have phones or a product of the sort, you've used apps before. Whether it be to update people with a quick snap or to find some cool music to jam to, many spend a lot of time on different apps. Today I thought I'd list my all-time favorites.

5. Netflix

Need I even say more? I spent all of Christmas break just watching random movies suggested to me. You can catch up on all your favorite shows and find great new ones. My favorite thing about it is that it always picks up where you last left off, so it could be days before I come back and I know exactly where I was. It's great for lazy days and just chilling. Some shows and movies I'd suggest watching are Gossip Girl, Bruce Almighty, and my all-time favorite, The Walking Dead.

4. Tumblr

This is basically a very simple version of a blogging website, but it's still so much fun. It's so easy to follow people and reblog different posts. I go on quite often to reblog things, and it literally takes a second to do it. I also love how you can personalize your page and do cool things with it, like change the background, layout, and even the mouse pointer! You can do so many awesome things, and it's so unique.

3. Spotify

I've basically given up the iTunes store for this app. I use Spotify on a daily basis It has every artist, album, and song under the sun. You can make your own playlists, share with others, and discover new music easily. The best part is that it barely plays ads, which is great for an impatient person like me. I highly recommend this app.

2. Instagram

Definitely my favorite app for photo sharing. I love how you can quickly snap a picture-without the fancy cameras and technology-and share it for quick updates. It's cool to get on and see what my friends and family are doing in an amazing photo. You know what they say: a pictures worth a thousand words.

1. YouTube

This is my favorite app for so many reasons. The fact that you can talk to a camera and post it for the world to see amazes me. I've seen so many wonderful, funny, and just plain smile-worthy videos on YouTube. I've also found great channels, some of my favorites being Zoella, Tyler Oakley, Connor Franta, and so many others. They constantly put out great, original content. You can also tell everyone supports each other, and I think that's awesome.

I hope some of these apps will be as useful for you as they have for me! Have an amazing weekend!

Clothes Wish List

Hey guys!

For those who follow SprinkleOfGlitter, aka Louise, you've probably seen her 2015 Fashion Wants list. When it comes to spending money on clothes, it's usually for running shorts and sports bras since I do sports all year round. So I thought it would be fun to make a fashion lust list, and see if I get any of it by the end of the year!

My 2015 Lust List:

Vans with a fun print or pattern

tons of leggings for comfy days
a black leather jacket
millions of colored knit cardigans
a cute skater skirt because they go with anything
a lot of beaded bracelets to stack (think Lilly and Laura)

huge scarves for winter
black & white graphic tees for my many pairs of colored skinnies
floral dresses because they look adorable for any occasion
a pair of cuffed jeans with a fun pattern

leopard print anything
light wash jeans
black Nike Roshes

I think all of these would go with a lot of things I already have, and I just think they're absolutely adorable! Who knows, maybe I'll own them all by the end of the year!

New Year, New Blog

Hello! As its New Years' Day, I've decided to start the year by doing something that makes me very nervous, and that's starting this blog. I've always been scared to say anything publically on the internet due to the fact that anyone, in any place in the world, could read what I have to say, and that anyone could judge me.

The thing is, I've read lots of posts saying that blogging has helped them gain confidence, self-esteem, and that it's a place they feel safe saying whatever they want. I will definitely be the first to admit that I am extremely shy in front of people I don't know. Whenever I walk into a classroom and see so many kids staring at me frightens me to the point where I don't say a single word all class period. On top of that, I always have trouble saying what I really feel about things, causing me to bottle up my emotions and let them build up until I fall apart. I'd like for both of those things to change.
So after almost a year of being on-the-fence, I've decided to put on my big girl pants and actually write my first blog post.
About every week or two, I will post about something I love, whether that be about a media, technology, culture, or anything of the sort. I hope you will enjoy the posts as much as I love composing them.

Sincerely, AmeriChick
